Karen McDaniels - Denton Rotary Club
International Rotary Project Overview

Karen McDaniels is the International Service Projects Chair of the Rotary Club of Denton.

She is Past Charter President of the Pilot Knob Rotary Club and splits her time between her homes in Denton and San Jose, Costa Rica.

She worked in Business Development for 3M Company in Southeast Asia. Upon retiring in 2009 she launched two non-profit companies, the first in Cambodia and then in Indonesia. It was in Indonesia that she experienced the power that a Rotary Global Grant has, to change communities and save lives. She joined Rotary in 2017.

Since retiring, she has dedicated her life to sharing her knowledge and experience with underserved women around the world, by providing them with the skills to empower themselves, their children, and their communities.

In 2018 she led The Denton Rotary Club through a global grant in Costa Rica that was featured in the May 2020 issue of Rotary Magazine. She also produced a film about the relationships that developed between the Rotarians who worked on that grant and the women in rural communities who benefitted from it.

She is a member of the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG), the Basic Education and Literacy Rotary Action Group (BELRAG) and the Rotary Action Group for Mental Health Initiatives (MHIRAG).

Karen is with us this today to share an opportunity for your club to support a new global grant: Creating Hope for Autistic Children in Costa Rica.
